Durham, NC 12/19/2015 – GH Mission is hosting a fish fry from 1 until 5 p.m. to launch their grand opening of a technology training center and free orientation on the courses that are being offered in Durham. In 1978, a student who worked a minimum-wage summer job could afford to pay a year's full tuition at a 4-year public university. Tuition at a private university is now roughly three times as expensive as it was in 1978, costing an average of $31,000 a year; public tuition, at $9,000, has risen by nearly four times. This is a painful bill for all but the very richest. For the average American household that doesn’t receive a lot of financial aid, higher education is simply out of reach. GH Mission's vision is to help young men and women develop dreams for their future, dreams that include becoming scientists, engineers, accountants, doctors and computer programmers. “Getting a college education is a serious societal issue and one that all of us need to address. We can do that by supporting agencies that work on behalf of those facing socio-economic challenges to getting a higher education,” said Dr. Anthony Grady, Board Director and CEO, who has been an educator since 1985.
